Audience members were thrilled with the student performance
For the fifth consecutive year, Stage 3 students from St Andrew’s Primary, Marayong have performed a Christmas concert for the residents and staff at the Holy Family Nursing Home in Quakers Hill.
The annual Christmas event is the initiative of Stage 3 Coordinator, Adam Fletcher and music teacher, Andras Racz who were keen to showcase the talent of their students and spread the Christmas spirit through music in the local community.
Led by Andras Racz, strings teacher and conductor of the St Andrew’s Primary Orchestra, the strings program commenced at the school in 2009. Since then, all students in Year 3 learn a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello or double bass) in the classroom music program and play in the class orchestra with students also given the opportunity to sing in the choir.
At the concert, students performed a variety of hymns and Christmas carols including the Pachelbel Canon, the First Noel and Jingle Bells with the residents and nursing staff expressing their great enjoyment of the annual event.
Stage 3 Coordinator, Adam Fletcher said the Christmas concert was a great way for students to end the school year.
‘They have the opportunity to perform for an audience who genuinely appreciate the school ensemble coming in to share their gifts at this time of the year,’ said Adam. ‘I feel it is important to make the links between the mission of our schools and the opportunities for young people interested in music ministry.’

Using fact files on topics of interest, students identified strong main ideas, selected relevant supporting evidence, and carefully drafted, revised, and edited their work to strengthen their writing. They challenged themselves to write well-structured sentences using technical vocabulary and rich word choices, ensuring their paragraphs not only informed the reader but captured their interest from the very first sentence. Wearing their vibrant flame crowns, Year 1 celebrated the Holy Spirit that lives within each of us, empowering us to spread kindness, joy, and hope in our school and community. π₯ͺπ Serving Our Community with Head, Heart and Hands ππ₯ͺ At St Andrewβs Primary School, our staff proudly come together twice each term to prepare sandwiches for those in need as part of our partnership with the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies). This simple yet meaningful act of service supports people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity across our wider Western Sydney community. Through this initiative, our teachers put their faith into action, living out the Gospel call to serve others with compassion, generosity, and kindness. By working in solidarity for those less fortunate, we demonstrate discipleship through our head, heart, and hands, showing that even small acts of care can make a big difference. π Exciting News from St Andrewβs! π Congratulations to Ava from Year 6 Blue, who has been selected to showcase her Lego Diorama MOC (My Own Creation) at this yearβs Sydney BrickBuilt Show on Saturday, 30th May! π§±β¨ Avaβs creative build, designed on a 32 x 32 stud baseplate, was chosen from entries submitted by talented junior builders aged 9β16, highlighting her imagination, storytelling, and building skills.
